Introducing Lux Knowledge Express

Lux Knowledge Express is a lightweight Business Intelligence application that provides a simple way to distill the valuable knowledge hidden in your data.  The application was specifically designed to be easy to use so you can start extracting meaning from your data quickly. 

Easy Business Intelligence

Lux Knowledge Express makes it easy to start taking advantage of Business Intelligence.  With it you can start making sense of your data - looking for patterns and anomalies - and can help your organization make better decisions.  Lux Knowledge Express does this by presenting results in easy to understand visual charts and tables.  In this way, your organization can use the knowledge hidden in your raw data to make better decisions more quickly.

Knowledge Portal

Lux Knowledge Express provides a customizable knowledge portal.  In addition to the graphs and reports that form its core, the application also provides common portal features such as Links, News, Forums and Events.  Lux Industries will work with you to build a knowledge portal that supports your business - including customizing the portal's look-and-feel through the application's "skinning" capability.

External Data Sources

Lux Knowledge Express can use data from third-party software applications as well as from those developed in-house.  The data connections are created and maintained through a straightforward, web-based interface.  Lux Industries will work with you to configure the application to use the data your organization needs to inspire more agile business decisions.

Flexible Role-Based Security

Security is built into Lux Knowledge Express so that administrators can assign users to roles and then control what access different roles have. The application can use it's own user database or it can interface with your existing user directories (such as Microsoft's Active Directory).  Also, configuration settings are recorded on a per user basis so users (belonging to roles with sufficient rights) can configure their charts to see they information they need.  

For example, Lux Knowledge Express would let you set up the following scenario:

One role ("guests") would not be allowed to see a particular chart at all, a second role ("viewers") would only be allowed to view the chart without changing any settings, while a third role ("researchers") would be allowed full access to the chart - selecting and filtering what information is shown. 

 

With these roles you could also configure one page in your portal as a "digital dashboard" - providing a quick, read-only view of current business activity - that would be visible to users belonging to the "viewers" and "researchers" roles.  You could then configure a separate "research" page (containing charts for performing more in-depth analysis) that would only be available users belonging to the "researchers" role. 

Web Based Administration

Lux Knowledge Express is fully web-enabled.  Once installed it is configured, customized, and maintained exclusively through an intuitive web interface.  This eliminates the need to install special software on client machines. It also means administrators can be manage the application from any computer that has a browser.

Integration With Existing Applications
